Page 2B Wednesday, October 17, 2018 Burnet Bulletin Burnet, Texas <,E) I I By Wayne Craig Bulletin Sports The BHS and BMS cross country teams wrapped-up their 2018 season last week with district races on Thursday and Saturday. The elder groups went first and did a good job representing the green and white against some very tough district opponents. The Burnet varsity boys were paced by Cade Rye, the only Bulldog to medal at the event, who finished 15 with a 17:55 in the three-mile. That time was a new personal record for the BHS sophomore. The girls were led by Rose Flores who posted a two-mile 13:57.9 for 23 place. Liberty Hill took first in all four high school team divisions, boys and girls varsity and JV. Salado captured second as a team in varsity boys and girls. Third place at the varsity level for the boys went to Eastside Memorial, and for the girls it was Lampasas earning the bronze. Burnet head cross country coach Shawn Zito had this to say at the conclusion of his first season, ,'Although we didn't have anyone advance to regionals, the majority of our runners set personal record times, some dropping a full minute from their previous best from this year and several minutes from their times last year. I am so very proud of everyone that ran and all the hard work they put in this year. It really shows when you start to look at their results."
