Burnet, Texas Burnet Bulletin Records Wednesday, August 3, 2011 Page 9B. Trial set in Buchanan murder case BY MICHAEL FREEMAN HIGHLAND LAKES NEWSPAPERS Four people accused in the murder of a man at a Buchanan Dam residence last year are tentatively scheduled to stand trial in October. Thomas BarkleyCreech, 34, of Buchanan Dam, Mary Louise Grote, 55, of Buchanan Dam, Justin Dale Silvernale, 24, of Aus- tin and Letecia Chapman Jeffers, 24, of Buchanan Dam are all scheduled to be in the 424th Judicial Court in Llano on Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m., according to court documents. All four have been ac- cused of being involved in the death of Mark Patrick Shurish of Travis County. Shurish, who was 29 years old at the time of his dis- appearance, was last seen alive the night of June 6, 20'10, at Fuzzy's Corner, a bar at the intersection of SH 29 and RR 1431 in Bu- chanan Dam, according Mary Louise Grote Letecia Jeffers to authorities. Authorities believe Shurish was shot at a mobile home at the 9100 block of RR 1431, less than a half-mile north of Fuzzy's Corner. Author- ities found Shurish's re- mains last October in a 10- foot deep pit on a northern Mason County ranch. Creech has been charged with the first-de- gree murder of Shurish. Grote, Silvernale and Jef- fers have all been charged with second-degree felo- nies of tampering with or fabricating physical evi- dence, namely a human corpse. Creech remains in Thomas Barkley the Llano County Jail as of Thursday, jail officials said. The other three have bonded out of jail since their arrests. Authorities have said that Jeffers and Silver- nale are acquaintances of Creech; Creech was also an acquaintance of the victim, Shurish. Grote worked as the owner of Fuzzy's Corner and for- mer employer of Creech; her family also owned the ranch where Shurish's remains were found, au- thorities said. The mobile home where Shurish was allegedly, shot is believed Creech Justin Dale Silvernale Mark Patrick Shurish to have been Jeffers' resi- dence at the time of the shooting, according to authorities.
