BY WAYNE CRAIG BULLETIN SPORTS The wins just keep adding up and the varsity Lady Dawgs are making others take notice. Burnet defeated Llano and Taylor last week to improve their 25-4A record to a perfect 8-0. The girls had Salado on the list for Tuesday night and will play Liberty Hill in Burnet on Friday to wrap-up the reDdar season. At the Lady Jackets' home last Tuesday Burnet jumped out to a 4-0 lead after tbttr innings. The orange and black held Burnet scoreless in the top of the fifth `and really turned the tables in the bottom of the inning adding four quick runs to knot~,tl2t$,~game at 4-4. N~,,~9,ared in th~ sixth~ ]U/~TI~ one liming left ~t~s remained tied-up. In the top of the seventh, with two outs on the board, Lexey Parker reached base on a single. She quickly put her- self in scoring position steal- ing second base. A Vanessa Escamilla single to center scored Parker breaking the tie at 5-4. Bumet's at bat soon ended with team geen hold- ing on to a one point lead with half an inning to play. Two ground-out plays between short stop V. Escanfilla and Alex Barry m(wed Burnet closer to vic- tory. The final out was a ~ound-out play between sec- ond baseman Natalie Frank and BmTy sealing the deal for the Lady Dawgs, 5-4. Burnet finished with eight hits, Llano had six. Neither team played mistake free ball, each had three errors in the game. The Escamilla sisters were back at it, both Vanessa and Marissa had a homerun in the contest. Makenzie Carpenter, Frank, and M. Escamilla each had extra-base hits in the game with doubles. Singles were recorded by V. Escamilla, Ashley } Hallmark, and 1: arker. Runs were scored by V. Escamilla, Carpenter, M. Escamilla, Frank, ,and Parker. Carpenter pitched the complete game seven innings allowing six hits, four runs, no earned runs, and one walk, with nine strikeouts. On Friday night Burnet welcomed the Taylor Lady Ducks to town. In their first meeting Carpenter tossed a no hitter against the Ducks, which in itself is impressive, but this go around, backed by her defense Carpenter pitched a perfect game. No Ducks were walked, got a hit, or ever reached base in Burnet's 11-0 win in four and a half innings. Burner led 1-0 after the first, but busted the game open with seven runs in the second. The3, went on to add two in the third `and one in the e in fottrth to close it out. Halhnark hit two doubles in the contest. Frank ,and BarD' each had one extra-base hit. V. Escamilla hit her second homerun of the week, and sin- gles were recorded by Zoiee Still with three, Parker, two; Barry, two, Carpenter, one; and Hallmark, one. Bumet's bats were hot with 14 hits. Carpenter's work in the circle was flawless. She allowed no hits, no runs, and no walks while recording nine strikeouts. The Lady Dawgs advanced their overall record to 20-3 `and will play their final district contest at home this Friday against Liberty Hill.
