I have strong local roots and love our community. I graduated from Marble Falls High School in 1978 and earned bachelor of business administration (University of Texas), master of business administration (University of North Texas) and doctor of jurisprudence (University of Houston) degrees. My public service includes: three terms as mayor of Granite Shoals and current municipal judge; president, Burnet County Re- publican Club; Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) Executive and Criminal Justice committees, and Hill Country Community Theatre Board ofGovemors. I am a member of Trinity Epis- copal Church. I currently help our youth make good life choices in court and as a Marble Falls Teen Court Attorney Mentor, and previously served on MFISD's Frank Reilly Strategic Planning and Bond Steering committees. As a lawyer, I have been before the lowest and high- est courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. I have rep- resented the state Republican Party in court and at the cap- itol, have been its assistant general counsel, and taught its officeholders and candidates schools on ethics, election law, and legislative rules, and been a Republican State Represen- tative Chief of Staff. As an attorney judge, I would be authorized to issue blood-draw warrants in DUI cases and seizure warrants in others to protect evidence before it diminishes or is de- stroyed. My opponents (who are all good people) would be unable to issue these warrants. As constitutional conser- vative, and one who teaches the Constitution to college stu- dents, I will follow the United States and Texas Constitu- tions. I will interpret the law, not create it. As an attorney, I would be better equipped than a non-attorney judge to make sound legal decisions, to deal with lawyers appearing before the court, and to issue more warrants.
